I could not find Cecil Burks' obituary in the Charleston Gazette-Mail newspaper; however, here are a few things I knew about him. Cecil was a life-time member of ACF and the WV State Champion for many years. He moved into a HUD apartment complex "Dunbar Towers" in Dunbar, WV in 2012 from living a long time in Charleston, WV. Cecil was a character and story teller, originally from Boone County, Seth, West Virginia which was coal country. Cecil could definitely entertain you with childhood background up bringing and Boone County history. Ted Williamson and I visited Cecil in Charleston in the Spring of 2011. Cecil was an excellent athlete in high school and loved Marshall University's Thundering Herd football. Cecil was a master checker player and a gentleman who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
